If you’re like us and are beauty obsessed, chances are you’ve been following renowned board-certified plastic surgeon, CEO, and founder Lara Devgan, MD. Devgan follows the unique philosophy that beauty is in the details, and her exceptional understanding of the complexity of the skin and how to treat, heal, restore, and regenerate it has set her apart in a rather crowded field. In 2013, Devgan opened the doors to her own private practice on Park Avenue, Lara Devgan, MD, Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery, which quickly became a staple in Manhattan’s Upper East Side neighborhood.
Then in 2018, Devgan launched Dr. Devgan Scientific Beauty, a luxury medical-grade skincare line that addresses a range of skin concerns such as aging and hyperpigmentation. Devgan is also the host of acclaimed podcast Beauty Bosses, where she delves into deep conversation with changemakers transforming their respective industries, from fashion and beauty to wellness. There’s no denying that Devgan holds a wealth of knowledge when it comes to beauty and fostering your best skin. She has been named the “#1 female cosmetic surgeon” in New York by RateMDs, was featured as a Super Doctors Rising Star in The New York Times Magazine, and was listed as one of “America’s top plastic surgeons” by the Consumers’ Research Council.
For someone as accomplished as Devgan, it comes as no surprise that her extensive training as a board-certified, Yale-educated, Johns Hopkins Medical School–instructed, and Columbia New York-Presbyterian Hospital–trained plastic and reconstructive surgeon catapulted her toward becoming the industry thought-leader she is today. Devgan received her BA in English and literature at Yale and received her MD in medicine and surgery and master’s in public health in biostatistics and epidemiology at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine. After school, she worked as a general surgery intern and then as a resident at Columbia University Medical Center, and she eventually moved to New York-Presbyterian Hospital as a plastic surgery resident. After two years, Devgan became the chief resident of plastic and reconstructive surgery at New York-Presbyterian Hospital, ultimately leading her to her passion for beauty today.
