Hot Take: Sunglasses Upgrade Any and Every Look—These 3 Eyewear Trends Are Proof

I’m not someone who can confidently describe my personal style in three words. Some days, I want to throw on a neon two-piece suit and feel like the most “extra” version of myself, and other days, I opt for an all-black ensemble that gives a subtle nod to my edgy side. But even if I can’t briefly sum up my style persona, I only need one word to describe the accessory I wouldn’t dare leave the house without: sunglasses. Maybe it’s the fact that I was born and raised in the Sunshine State, or maybe it’s my unwavering desire to add an element of mystique to every outfit, but I’ve never shied away from a good pair of sunnies.

All of the fashion people I look up to (my fellow WWW editors included) never fail to style their eyewear impeccably no matter the shape, shade, or season. So I’ve been taking notes (aka adding photos to my summer mood board), and I’m pleased to report that the search for my dream summer sunnies has officially come to a close. Fendi’s S/S 22 eyewear collection is giving me exactly what I need to bring every look to life this season, and I refuse to keep quiet about it. The O’Lock line was designed by Delfina Delettrez Fendi as an extension of the fashion jewelry line, and its soft, oval-shaped FF logo is a sleek, feminine spin on the iconic square Fendi monogram. Despite my love for just about every pair of sunglasses on the site, I narrowed my picks down to three key styles: cat-eye, rectangular, and maxi. Keep scrolling for the styles you’re bound to wear on repeat this summer.

Trends come and go, but the cat eye is forever. Cat-eye sunglasses made their debut in the 1920s, and fashion people never looked back. I don’t blame them. Leave it to the O’Lock shades to add a hint of luxury to the most subdued look. (The white pair has my name written all over it.) I’m convinced that cat-eye sunnies are the gateway style that leads to more fun and unique pairs in your collection. No matter what style is dominating the trend cycle at the moment, you can depend on these to make a statement while remaining chic and low-key. For good measure, I’d style these frames with other accessories that fit the same description like a sleek hobo bag and heeled sandals.

If you’re active on social media, you’re probably familiar with the term “model off duty.” It’s used to describe the effortless look that our favorite models sport on the days that they’re not strutting down the runway. I don’t know about you, but this is the vibe I aspire to when I’m running out to grab a smoothie or stop by the post office. What’s the key to making even the most casual errands look elevated and cool? Square frames. There’s just something about the boxy structure of this pair that feels a bit more edgy and mysterious than the other shades you throw in your purse, and I’m here for it. Pop these on with a baby tee, a pair of jeans, and a mixed-metal choker, and you’ve successfully turned a boring outfit into a full-on look.

When the weather heats up, I’m instantly ready to enter my maximalism era. I’m talking bold hues, playful textures, and most importantly, statement accessories. I know that all I have to do is take these oversize frames out of the case if I need my confidence to soar to new heights. Wearing something that covers 50% of your face and looks as stylish as these is the ultimate power move. Trust me. I’m already envisioning these paired with a printed matching set and other colorful accessories to kick off summer on a high note.
