FBI Arrests Former Trump Appointee Federico Klein Over Capitol Riot

The FBI has announced it has arrested Federico Klein, a former Trump’s appointee to the U.S. Department of State, for his alleged role in the Jan. 6 insurrection at the U.S. Capitol.

Klein was arrested by the feds in Virginia and is the first known member of the Trump administration to face criminal charges in connection with the storming of the Capitol Hill riot.

Klein was still employed at the State Department when he joined a mob in a tunnel leading into the U.S. Capitol, the FBI said. They claim that he “physically and verbally engaged with the officers holding the line” at the building’s entrance. He is also accused of assaulting officers with a riot shield that had been stolen from police and using the shield to wedge open a door.

Klein was caught on video yelling for more of the mob to come to the front lines to push past officers.

“We need fresh people, need fresh people,” he allegedly said.
