Dallas Cowboys star La’el Collins has been suspended after he allegedly tried to bribe the league’s drug-test collector.
ESPN reports that players cannot be suspended for positive marijuana tests under the NFL’s collective bargaining agreement, but Collins’ missed several tests and then tried to bribe the test collector.
He was going to be suspended by the league for five games but took a settlement which reduced it to just a two-game ban.
Collins then appealed the suspension, and the appeal was heard by an arbitrator appointed jointly by the league and the NFLPA. His appeal was rejected and his ban was increased back to the original five games.
Oh boy….
Collins served the first game of his suspension last Sunday game against the Los Angeles Chargers. He also missed the game’s match against the Philadelphia Eagles.
The suspension will cost Collins roughly $2 million and. ESPN also reports that the ban voids the injury guarantee worth $6.48 million in his 2022 salary.
