Colbert Calls CNN ‘Objective.’ Guess What Happened Next?

You don’t watch “The Late Show” for anything resembling the truth.

CBS host Stephen Colbert peddled two major deceptions over the past half-dozen years.

  • The Russian collusion story was true
  • President Joe Biden is of sound mind

That’s just a sample of what passes for objectivity at the far-Left showcase.

It’s a bit like … CNN.

That news network is relentlessly liberal, attacking GOP figures like former President Donald Trump and pulling punches whenever a Democrat appears on the channel.

The bias is off the charts.

And, for one glorious moment, both Colbert and a CNN star realized even their far-Left audiences know the scam.

CNN anchor Kaitlan Collins appeared on Monday’s “The Late Show,” eager to talk up Vice President Kamala Harris like the rest of her corrupt corporate peers. This exchange, however, stopped her in her tracks. (hat tip: Brent Baker/MRC)

“He has not been able to coalesce around a single attack line,” Collins said of Trump’s campaign vis a vis Harris.

Colbert gently interrupted.

“I know you guys are objective over there, that you just report the news as is,” Colbert began before the audience broke out into laughter.

“Is that supposed to be a laugh line?” Collins asked, a sheepish smile spreading across her face.

“It’s not supposed to be, but I guess it is!” Colbert said in a rising, whimsical voice.

They know. They all know. It’s a poorly disguised gambit where both sides pretend to tell the truth.

Colbert is the fearless comic, the sharp-tongued satirist holding the powerful accountable. Collins is part of a decades-old news organization, one that brought the 24-hour news cycle into existence. Just the facts, ma’am.

They’re both frauds. And they don’t care that we know it. The checks keep clearing. The lights remain on.

Now, the lie is more forgivable for a comedian like Colbert. He’s a clown, a yukkster. We shouldn’t take him seriously – except corporate media types routinely do. Journalists rarely label Colbert or his far-left cohorts “liberal” or “progressive.”

They’re just comedians. Wink-wink. The fact that they host fundraisers for one political party means nothing.

CNN, which continues to suffer terrible ratings and may be swallowed up by Max in the coming years, is allegedly a news outlet. Fair. Honest. Trustworthy.

Objective.

Even the New York liberals in Colbert’s audience found that hilarious.
