The IRS is suing Chris Tucker, claiming that he owes them $9 million from all the way back to 2002.
In a complaint filed to Nevada federal court obtained by USA TODAY, they say he owes federal taxes, tax penalties and interest from 2002, 2006, 2008 and 2010 that amount to $9.6 million.
“Despite notice and demand for payment of the assessments set forth above, Mr. Tucker has neglected, refused, or failed to fully pay the assessments against him,” the documents state.
He owed them $481,000 in 2010 to $4.6 million in 2002. His total is $9,684,452.07. Tucker made several installment agreements in 2010, 2011 and 2016 to pay the IRS back in lump sums over a 10-year period. He did not keep up with his payments.
Recently, he explained why he did not star in any of the Friday sequels.
“I said ‘man that movie became a phenomenon (but) I don’t want everybody smoking weed,'” he said. “I don’t want to represent everyone smoking weed, I kinda made it more personal than a movie.”
