Sam Lutfi apologized to Britney Spears, as he represented her during a period of her lengthy conservatorship.
Britney is currently fighting to end the conservatorship.
“Just sitting here listening to that court recording, if she hates me after she’s free I won’t blame her… I failed her, I was supposed to protect her from all this, I let her down and we both paid dearly for it – – head in hands..I’m so sorry,” he wrote.
Lufti became Spears’ manager in 2007. Jamie and Lynne, the pop singer’s parents, blamed Lufti for her public breakdown in 2008 and obtained a restraining order against him. He then filed a defamation suit against the family in 2009 which was settled confidentially in 2016.
“I’ve told the world I’m happy and okay,” Britney said in her testimony. “I thought just maybe if I said that enough maybe I might become happy, because I’ve been in denial. I’ve been in shock. I am traumatized. You know, fake it till you make it. But now I’m telling you the truth, okay? I’m not happy. I can’t sleep. I’m so angry; it’s insane. And I’m depressed. I cry every day.”
