The body of Gabby Petito has reportedly been found after being missing for weeks in the desert.
Brian Laundrie, her fiancé has been missing for almost a week.
The couple went on a cross-country trip in June. Brian returned alone in September but did not report her missing.
Laundrie has not been charged and is not suspected of a crime at this point, authorities said. Before he disappeared, he had refused to speak with police.
Cheryl Dorsey, a retired Los Angeles police sergeant, spoke to CNN and was upset with Laundrie’s parents, who allowed him to return and leave without speaking to the police.
“I get that he’s a grown man,” Dorsey said. “What influence, if any, do (his parents) have over him? He decides to go backpacking and they couldn’t stop him?”
He has been named a person of interest in the case. His family told the police that they have not seen him since last Tuesday. Everyone is now awaiting the autopsy report.
