Brad Pitt, who narrates the new Terrence Malick IMAX® documentary “Voyage of Time,” will not be attending Wednesday night’s premiere, as was originally planned.
The actor is choosing to skip the event as he is “currently focused on my family situation,” the actor said in a statement exclusive to Access Hollywood.
“Terrence’s ‘Voyage of Time’ is an incredibly beautiful and unique experiential IMAX film for children and families chronicling the birth of time. I’m very grateful to be part of such a fascinating and educational project, but I’m currently focused on my family situation and don’t want to distract attention away from this extraordinary film, which I encourage everyone to see,” Pitt said in a statement to Access Hollywood.
The new IMAX® movie was directed by acclaimed filmmaker Malick, who also directed Pitt in the 2011 film “The Tree of Life,” which tells the story of a family’s eldest son who struggles with his relationship with his father.
The “Voyage of Time” is described in press releases as “a one-of-a-kind celebration of life and the grand history of the cosmos, transporting audiences into a vast yet up-close-and-personal journey that spans the eons from the Big Bang to the dinosaur age to our present human world … and beyond.” The film is also described as offering audiences an “immersive cosmic experience.”
There are also two versions of the film scheduled for release — a 45-minute version narrated by Pitt and a 90-minute experience narrated by Cate Blanchett.
The film will be shown exclusively in IMAX® theaters nationwide beginning October 7.
