Eric Clapton: ‘Israel Is Running the World’

“Roger Waters found his guitar player” – John Ondrasik, Five for Fighting.

Eric Clapton, the rock legend who was pilloried for questioning vaccine mandates during the pandemic, just enraged another large group of people.

Who?

Those who don’t think Israel controls the world. Plus, anyone horrified by the Ivy League presidents who downplayed raging antisemitism on their campuses late last year.

Who won’t be outraged? Clapton’s “brother,” former Pink Floyd musician Waters.

Clapton, 79, gave an interview to The Real Music Observer YouTube channel last week which will shock legions of fans. In it, Clapton cheered the pro-Palestinian protests raging across America and elsewhere. Said protests featured violence against jews, property destruction and nonstop antisemitic rants.

Clapton approves. It gets worse.

He compared the Senate hearings where the aforementioned academics couldn’t condemn antisemitism akin to the Nuremberg trials.

“The Senate committee chairman asked pointed questions to presidents of universities, saying, ‘I just want to hear yes or no. Don’t talk to me about context. Yes or no, are you promoting antisemitism on your campus?’ And I thought, what is this, the Spanish Inquisition? And it is! It’s AIPAC, it’s the lobby. Israel is running the show. Israel is running the world.”

Jewish control over large swathes of the culture is one of the most tired, and hateful, tropes against that community. And he shared it without blinking.

Ondrasik, who mocked Clapton’s comments on X, is one of a very select group of musicians who have supported Israel’s right to self-defense following the Oct. 7 attacks by Hamas which killed 1,200 people. Disturbed frontman David Draiman is another, but their numbers are shockingly small.

Waters has been dogged by accusations he’s an antisemite for some time, including from former Pink Floyd member David Gilmour.
