Winston Marshall Shreds Pelosi in Epic Smackdown

Winston Marshall bowed to Cancel Culture for a very silly reason.

Or did he?

Marshall, then part of the internationally renowned Mumford & Sons, praised journalist Andy Ngo for his 2021 book “Unmasked: Inside Antifa’s Radical Plan to Destroy Democracy.”

“Finally had the time to read your important book. You’re a brave man.”

For that, the social media mob came for his hide. Ngo is instrumental in revealing Antifa’s true nature, and that made Marshall public enemy no. 1.

The musician apologized for the message and, a short time later, quit the band.

“The only way forward for me is to leave the band. I hope in distancing myself from them I am able to speak my mind without them suffering the consequences. I leave with love in my heart and I wish those three boys nothing but the best. I have no doubt that their stars will shine long into the future. I will continue my work with Hong Kong Link Up and I look forward to new creative projects as well as speaking and writing on a variety of issues, challenging as they may be.”

It was textbook Cancel Culture, and Marshall’s actions seemingly made matters worse. He lost his ties to the band he co-founded and became professionally radioactive.

A funny thing happened next. Marshall didn’t become an “ally” or start sharing the “approved” messages on Culture War issues.

He went rogue.

Marshall created a podcast where he could debate the latest headlines without fear of reprisal. His status began to rise, buoyed by powerful friends like the team behind “Triggernometry.”

He started using his voice in a new, powerful way. He exposed the woke rot within the culture on several fronts. When overnight sensation Oliver Anthony got mocked by the far-Left Rolling Stone, Marshall rode to the singer’s rescue.

“… they’re the magazine that used to be the voice of counterculture. Now they don’t know counterculture when it slaps them in the face.”

His podcast gave voice to other nonconformists, including comedian Andrew Doyle, author Douglas Murray and James Lindsay. His Substack page offered more insightful views that wouldn’t be embraced by the mainstream.

Now, his blistering takedown of Rep. Nancy Pelosi during an April 24 Oxford Union Speech over the nature of populism is going viral.

Marshall’s Tweet of the debate has generated 2.7 views on X. Many other accounts have similarly shared it to grand effect.

The subject? “Populism is a Threat to Democracy.”

“If the motion was that political violence was a threat to democracy I’d be on that side of the house. January 6th has been mentioned, a dark day for America indeed,” Marshall began.

“And I’m sure Congresswoman Pelosi will agree that the entire month of June 2020 when the Federal Court House in Portland, Oregon, was under siege and under insurrection by radical progressives, those too were dark days for America.”

Pelosi didn’t want to compare the two.

“There is no equivalence there, so, but it is not like what happened on January 6th, which was an insurrection incited by the President of the United States,” Pelosi said.

Marshall asked the former Speaker of the House if she agreed that the Portland violence was also worth condemning.

She couldn’t.

“Ladies and gentlemen, given the success of Trump and more recently Javier Milei taking a chainsaw to the state behemoth of Argentina’s bureaucratic monster, you’d be mistaken for thinking this was a right-wing populist age. But that would be ignoring Occupy Wall Street. That would be ignoring Jeremy Corbyn’s “for the many not the few.” That would be ignoring Bernie against the billionaires, RFK Jr against Big Pharma.

And more recently, George Galloway against his better judgement.

Now, all of them, including Galloway, recognised genuine concerns of ordinary people being otherwise ignored by the establishment.

I am actually rather surprised that our esteemed opposition Congresswoman Pelosi is on that side of the motion.

I thought the Left were supposed to be anti-elite. I thought the Left were supposed to be anti-establishment. Today, particularly in America, the globalist-left have become the establishment.

I suppose for Mrs Pelosi to take this side of the motion, she would be arguing herself out of a job.”

That may not have been the worst part for Pelosi.

Later, Marshall pinned her into a corner when bringing up election denialism. The musician singed Donald Trump for not accepting the results of the 2020 election, and then he turned the question on her.

“So should Hillary in 2016, so should Brussels and Westminster in 2016, and so, too, should Congresswoman Pelosi instead of saying the 2016 election was, quote, ‘hijacked.’”

“It was … That doesn’t mean we don’t accept the results of it,” she said.

The collapse of the Russian collusion narrative apparently hasn’t reached her desk as of yet.

It’s hard not to recall the words of Obi-Wan Kenobi when he squared off with Darth Vader in 1977’s “Star Wars.”

“If you strike me down, I shall become more powerful than you can possibly imagine.”

Cancel Culture struck Marshall down in 2021. Here’s betting the mob is starting to wish it hadn’t.
