I Can't Stop Thinking About This COS Skirt—3 Ways I'm Planning To Wear It

One of the best parts of my job are the insights. We get to know the trends that are about to take off, the next sell-out styles before they’re all gone, and the pieces that fashion people are adding to their wardrobes in real time. What’s even better, is that I get to share these findings with you. And there’s one item that is currently flying off shelves, the double-faced wool column skirt by COS

It’s inevitable that some trending styles are more flash in the pan than lifelong acquaintances, but this sleek skirt is not one of those. Understated, refined, and an instant addition of polish to any look, it’s easy to see why this skirt in particular, and the wool skirt trend in general, are taking off right now. Whilst the style itself can be dated back, the new iterations of the column skirt (also known as the pencil skirt) feel incredibly fresh in their current design. In the understated, quiet-luxury revolution that we’re in, this is exactly the kind of piece we’ve been looking for.

Not only is COS’s column skirt an endlessly chic addition that will slip right into your winter wardrobe (I’ll be sharing my styling ideas below), but will move with you through spring and autumn too.The skirt itself comes in three shades. The black iteration features belt loops and neat welted pockets, whilst the cream and navy versions remove the details for a more streamlined effect. The brilliance is that the style is so clean that it can be elevated with boots or heels, or worn casually with trainers and a cosy knit. Without further ado, here’s the COS column skirt I can’t stop thinking about, and how to style it right now.

Style Notes: For this look, I’m keep to the paired-back feel and letting the skirt take centre stage with monochromatic additions.

I saw the black version first, and haven’t stopped thinking about it since.

I, too, did a double take at the price tag.

Make the most of the finer details of the skirt by adding a belt.

I’d forgive you for thinking these were designer.

Style Notes: Unlike black, cream is much harder to shade matching making a monochromatic look a real feat. Instead, I look to complimenting gradients, like darker greige and brown.

The double-faced wool adds a premium touch (literally).

Toteme is focuses on styles that will stand the test of time, and this coat surely will.

Stripes are an easy way to add dimension to a classic look.

Bold stud earrings remain a favourite amongst fashion people.

I couldn’t believe these expensive-looking boots were from Zara.

Style Notes: Whilst this skirt exudes polish, its still capable of being dressed down making the skirt more versatile than you might think. A simple tee and trending colourful sneakers are an easy way to take this skirt off duty.

I’d also style this with a navy waistcoat and sandals in the warmer months.

The longer length of Khaite’s denim jacket compliments to maxi style of this skirt.

A great white t-shirt features in all the best wardrobes.

Brown and navy has become one of my favourite colour combinations.

These went straight in my basket.
