As I live in New York City, footwear is a massive personal-wardrobe priority. Comfort and practicality are nonnegotiable, but that doesn’t have to exclude taste or trendiness. Unfortunately, the amount of walking and conditions of the city significantly shorten the lifespan of a pair of shoes. With the start of the New Year, I decided it was high time I part ways with some of my beloved footwear for updated options.
Versatility—e.g., low heel heights, platform soles, and lots of sneakers—is key in my footwear wardrobe. Ballet flats, loafers, and easy boots are perfect for work, and mules, sneakers, and more difficult boots make up my weekend footwear. But all of the below pairs I’ve chosen can be for work or play.
The shoe shopping list ahead is an ideal amalgamation of adaptable, practical, and wearable footwear. It’s time to put your feet first.
