I’m 24 Years Old and Have Never Dyed My Hair—This Is the Color Trend I’d Try

Calling all auburn-hair lovers! From award-winning actresses, models, and singers to social media influencers with huge followings, the auburn (or copper) hair-color trend has been spotted everywhere for months. It began to pop up in late spring right at the conclusion of award season and hasn’t been out of trend since then. Fiery locks have always had a hold on society, and there’s a shade of red that’s absolutely meant for you.

How gorgeous is this shot of Kaia Gerber at the second annual Academy Museum Gala? There’s something so effortlessly chic about this shade of red. It’s the perfect blend of auburn and brown, adding just enough color to frame her face beautifully. Gerber’s slight waves add a hint of Old Hollywood glam to an otherwise ultra-modern look.

One of my biggest resolutions for this upcoming year is exploring retro-inspired hairstyles. Euphoria star Maude Apatow shows us how it’s done with a rust-colored bob with a flirty flip at the ends. Apatow’s hair leans a little more orange than red in this pic, showing just how many gorgeous shades of auburn are out there. My favorite part? The sweet hair clip for a little sparkle.

If you have naturally curly hair like me, it’s easy to get comfortable with the colors and styles you’ve been told work best for your hair type and skin tone. Take this as your sign to have a little fun with your hair by adding a splash of copper to your locks. Chloe Bailey arrived at the Miu Miu S/S 23 Paris Fashion Week show sporting these vibrant honey-colored locs, and I’m secretly hoping she keeps them year-round.

While I can’t claim that Kendall Jenner started the auburn-hair trend, it would be a fair statement to say she definitely had a major hand in its popularity. Yes, Jenner seemingly pulls off every look on and off the runway, but this auburn hair takes the cake for me. It’s a warm, vibrant, and classic take on the trend that I can’t help but appreciate.

Bridgerton star Phoebe Dynevor also stunned during Paris Fashion Week. The actress arrived at Louis Vuitton’s S/S 23 show sporting head-to-toe Louis Vuitton and a gorgeous auburn lob that turned heads. Dynevor’s hair gave her a gorgeous glow and added a subtle hint of edge to her high-fashion look.

If auburn hair can make me look as chic as it makes Syndey Sweeney look, consider me influenced. The blonde Euphoria star made an appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show last March as a redhead. This also happens to be one of my favorite ways I’ve seen the auburn-hair trend pulled off: glossy, stick-straight strands with sweeping bangs to frame the face.

Actress Barbie Ferreira appeared on the red carpet at the 2022 Vanity Fair Oscar Party sporting a stunning sky-high auburn pony. Matching her eye shadow to her new hair color was the perfect finishing touch for the look.

Now that we’ve got the inspiration part down, it’s time to go over the nitty-gritty parts of haircare.
