Anthropologie Was My First Job—Here’s What I’m Buying There as a 30-Year-Old

Having a summer mall job was a rite of passage for anyone who came of age in the early 2000s—bonus points if it was at a millennial-loved store like Anthropologie, which was the location of my very first job in high school. (I followed it up with a job at yet another classic millennial obsession, Bath & Body Works, but I digress.) The long days on my feet gave me so much respect for retail workers, and to this day, I can’t look at a rack of clothes without being reminded of how we were supposed to organize the hangers with a finger’s width between them.

It’s been more than a decade since my first job, and Anthropologie has certainly grown up right along with us now 30-somethings. The assortment includes a much more varied mix of styles than it used to, including trendy, timeless, glitzy, minimalist, sexy, practical, and more. Below, I’m rounding up the things I’d buy from Anthropologie right this second.

Baggy trousers are arguably the most popular trend right now, with Meghan Markle being their most recent fan.

If you’re wondering how to style your new baggy trousers, a buttoned vest is a great place to start.

This jumpsuit is perfect for the upcoming holiday-party season.

Why not give green pants a try? They’re certainly an eye-catching option.

These $38 sunnies are ’60s perfection.

This two-for-one sweater-and-shirt piece is giving me Miu Miu vibes.

This slip dress can be styled a million different ways.

Faux-leather pants are so chic for fall and winter.

I love everything about this outfit.

In case you don’t want to shell out the big bucks for the Prada version.

This lime green is so refreshing.

The same kitten heels also come in classic black.

I told you: Slouchy pants are trending.

This pearl-trimmed dress is truly a stunner.

How beautiful is this emerald green?

Yet another excellent pair of trousers.

I found my new favorite layering top.

Platforms are another trend making a huge resurgence as of late.

Kermit green is still majorly popular.

This trench coat looks triple its price.

It also comes in classic black for a Matrix-inspired vibe.

Wear this miniskirt with tights when chilly weather arrives.

I absolutely love this outfit from head to toe.

Brown suede boots are timeless.

Pretty in pink.

It doesn’t get any more classic than this blazer.

I adore these bell sleeves.

If you have enough wool blazers in your closet, why not try a faux-leather version this season?

Holiday parties will be here before you know it.

Yes, cargo pants are very much on-trend right now.
