As a fashion editor, I love putting together outfits. It really is one of my simple joys, as I love playing around with the clothes I have collected over the years and seeing new ways that I can style them. Falling in love with fashion and clothes led me to finding a stronger sense of self-confidence as well. When you’re wearing an outfit that you love, that you feel represents you and your personality, it’s hard not to feel like you can handle anything. After all, your wardrobe is like your own personal armor, and for me, my outfit says a lot about how I’m feeling that day.
One of the best things about living in NYC is that I am constantly around fashionable people who give me outfit inspiration. I think we can all agree that the best feeling ever is when you’re wearing an outfit you love, and you get a compliment from a fellow stylish person commenting on how great your look is. I wore six outfits around New York that helped me experience that feeling on repeat.
Keep scrolling to see which six outfits I wore that gained me tons of compliments and the other items I have in my cart.
I’m a huge fan of Miaou and find that its dresses fit me really well. Most of the dresses have corseting throughout the bodice, a style I gravitate toward. This multi-print design is a head-turner for sure. To me, it’s so stylish and summery, making it the perfect day or night outfit for summer. What really ties this look together is the bright-orange Chanel bag I snagged from the luxury accessory rental membership club Vivrelle.
When I put on this look, I instantly felt like a Gen Z Dionne from the movie Clueless, and I’m so into that vibe. The green-and-blue plaid is fun and little on the trendy side, which guarantees all eyes on you in this top, and if that’s not enough, this sparkly Area miniskirt is almost the definition of a statement piece. Of course, I had to pair it with this sparkly mini bag from Cult Gaia, which is quickly becoming one of my favorites.
Do we all think of Mariah Carey when we see a butterfly backless top? This one is from Cult Gaia’s collaboration with Bratz, and when I first saw it, I had to have it. Anytime I can pay homage to a ’90s/’00s pop star, sign me up. These low-rise loose-fitting jeans were exactly what I pictured myself wearing with this top. If you’re on the petite side like I am, they are a little long, but I still love them. This sparkly Rebecca Minkoff bag was the perfect cherry on top of this look.
I have been eyeing this dress for so long and was so excited when I finally got the chance to try it on myself. The cobalt color alone is such an attention grabber, and pairing that with the contrasting orange bag is the perfect bold summer look. The cutouts on this dress were perfect for the 90-degree NYC weather, I wore this look to a dinner later on, and I loved it. The Le Specs sunglasses were definitely the right choice to bring this whole look together.
I call this my “hot girl walk” attire. This Marc Jacobs bralette-top-and-biker-shorts set reminded me of a sunset, and who doesn’t want to look like a fashionable sunset while grabbing your morning coffee and pastry? I’m a big believer in a comfy/athletic look for running errands, and this set was so good. I’ve recently started wearing Golden Goose sneakers, and I’ve got to say I’m impressed.
The silhouette of this With Jéan dress is straight out of a dream, in my opinion. I love a good strapless minidress; something about it is simple yet sophisticated, and with this cool print, it’s checking a lot of boxes for me. I paired it with these Alohas sandals that are literally one of the most comfortable pairs of heels I have ever worn, and I added these large Gucci frames for a little bit of drama. (I can’t help myself.)
