My travel wish list has never been so lengthy. I’ve done research on a slew of different locations, scouring the internet and social media to find my dream hotels, restaurants, and more. Lest all of my hard work goes to waste, I figured I’d share everything I’ve found with our readers. Let’s be honest—I definitely don’t have the budget for more than one international vacation per year!
Below, I rounded up my favorite eye-candy destinations around the globe, from the chicest lakefront villa to the glitziest ski chalet in all of Europe. Admittedly, many of these spots are costly, but that’s why I’ve placed them in my “dream destination” category, and I have a feeling you will, too. Scroll down to see the seven most stylish vacation spots of 2022 and shop pieces to wear, whether you’re jetting off somewhere exclusive or crashing your neighbor’s pool party.
If you agree that Cannes and St. Tropez seem a bit overrated these days, you need to make a beeline for Provence. The beautiful region in the South of France includes rolling hills of lavender, 12th-century châteaus, fishing ports, cypress trees, and views, views, views.
As for where to stay, Les Roches Blanches in the charming seaside town of Cassis is absolutely top-notch thanks to its waterfront location and beautiful décor. No wonder fashion designer Ulla Johnson recently stayed there. Inland, you can’t go wrong in the Luberon region, where Capelongue‘s idyllic property and La Bastide de Gordes‘s hilltop views regularly attract the fashion set. (One of my former colleagues is getting married there next year.) Nearby, Hotel Crillon Le Brave is a bastion of French luxury.
Reese Witherspoon, Gwyneth Paltrow, Emma Roberts, and Nina Dobrev are just some of the celebrity fans of wellness resort Hacienda AltaGracia, the newest property by Auberge Resorts Collection. Less than a year old, it’s already been featured in Vogue, Town & Country, People, Allure, and more. If that doesn’t make it the buzziest destination of 2022, I don’t know what would.
The 180-acre luxury resort is so much more than a place to stay—it’s a full experience. Hacienda AltaGracia offers horseback riding, surfing, bird watching, waterfall bathing, mountain biking, cooking classes, picnics, tree climbing, infrared therapy, spa treatments, yoga, coffee tasting, and more. Phew! That’s enough activities for a month, so I might as well move right in.
St. Moritz needs no introduction for skiers, but I’ll offer one anyway: The Swiss mountain town is the epitome of posh. Moncler-clad skiers and snowboarders flock to the town in the winter—in fact, St. Moritz lays claim to being the birthplace of winter sports—but it’s equally stunning in all four seasons.
This December, Pucci and its new artistic director, Camille Miceli, will bring the fashion crowd to St. Moritz for the unveiling of a new winter collection, which will certainly generate plenty of interest in the alpine town. As for lodging, I’ve long been obsessed with the Kulm Hotel St. Moritz thanks in no small part to the old-fashioned, traditional Swiss interior and its 160-year history.
Lake Como just got a jolt of fashionable energy thanks to Passalacqua Lake Como, the newest five-star hotel on the famed lago. A family of third-generation hoteliers transformed a previously private villa into the chicest hotel I’ve ever seen, and I’m not exaggerating.
Italian brand La DoubleJ—known for its vibrant, cheerful prints—designed the new hotel’s pool and bar area. Naturally, the result is a maximalist’s dream. If you’re not traveling to Italy anytime soon, La DoubleJ’s Passalacqua homeware collection is also available online.
Skip Mallorca’s bustling capital town of Palma and go to Es Racó d’Artà instead. If the beautiful architecture, serene property, and local art don’t win you over, perhaps the resort’s commitment to sustainability will woo you. “The materials used for the construction and the furniture are mostly recycled, locally produced, and sustainable,” the resort explained on its website. “Building designs have been adapted to the topography of the site to reduce the impact on the environment as much as possible.”
Nearby on the quieter island of Menorca, you simply can’t miss Menorca Experimental. The archways, concrete built-in furniture, LRCNE-designed bedding, soothing earth tones, and farmland property all serve to make this hotel a truly unique destination.
Ibiza has always been famous for its nightlife, but rest assured there is also plenty to see and do during the day. Casa Jondal seems to be the preeminent restaurant for fashion influencers, while Petunia Ibiza is the most stylish boutique hotel on the entire island. Fans of the property say it’s a fantastic choice for a relaxing, laid-back vacation, quashing Ibiza’s party stereotype once and for all.
Of all the Caribbean and West Indies islands, two seem to dominate my Instagram feed: the Bahamas and Grand Cayman. The former sees stylish vacationers check in at the SLS Baha Mar in Nassau, while the latter attracts plenty of Instagrammers at Palm Heights Grand Cayman.
