6 Current Shoe Trends That Work The Best For Travel

At the risk of sounding dramatic, packing the wrong shoes for a trip can be a potential nightmare. I can say this from experience and you probably can too. I walk a lot more when I travel than I do during my everyday work-from-home life. This and the fact that I live in the South and drive everywhere contributes to the fact that I don’t always prioritize comfort when shoe shopping, but I’m sure to invest in a few pairs with travel in mind every season (as in comfort and walkability being the MO).

The good news about the current shoe trends is that there are plenty that are perfectly suited for vacation-related adventures. They’re both stylish and walkable (even the heels). And the great thing about travel-friendly shoes is that they’re obviously not solely reserved for travel (in fact, it’s best to test out and break in any shoes you’re thinking of packing in advance).

Scroll on if you’re going on a trip and are in need of some suitable shoes (or if you just need some shoes in general).

If you’ve ever worn a pair of thin-soled sandals on dirty city streets, you probably regretted it (I know I did). Luckily, chunky-soled sandals are far more forward and obviously far more walkable.

As someone who is very fond of loafers in general, I love that they’re so popular right now. They go with everything and can even be worn out at night. I love them with short hemlines, in particular.

Athletic sneakers from the likes of Asics, Hoka, and New Balance (to name a few) are cooler than ever, so take advantage of this moment and pack a pair. Better yet, wear them on the place or in the car as they take up a good bit of luggage space.

Like it or not, gladiator sandals are back, and if you opt for a flat pair, you’ll find them to be a chic, travel-friendly shoe trend that gives your outfits a forward feel with minimal effort.

For the one heel trend on this list, I went with wedges. They’re a bit more walkable than a stiletto heel (especially on cobblestone streets)—just be sure to choose a heel on the low and wider side.

Soccer shoes are one of the most surprising trends of the season, in my opinion, but I like it. All the stylish celebs are wearing Adidas Samba sneakers, and as a result, they’re selling out left and right. Here’s hoping you’re able to snag one of the below to wear with pretty much anything.
