This Bikini Trend Has Officially Become a Swimwear Basic—22 I’m Adding to Cart

It’s a fact that swimwear trends just don’t move as quickly as clothing trends do. Considering summer is really the main season when we pull out our swimwear collections in full, it makes sense that they’d have a longer shelf life. And some more than others, at that. Looking at the swim trends on deck for summer 2022, there’s one style that seems to come back around every time since it first popped up on our radars.

The “trend” in question is underwire bikinis and I put the word trend in quotations because the style has remained so popular and consistently relevant as to completely transcend the cycle of what’s in and what’s out. I’m even going so far as to say that it’s become a new swimwear basic. At least in my closet, underwire bikini tops are outperforming triangle halter tops as my go-to. Not only are they on every shopping site, Instagram feed, and closet I come across, but their supportive and bra-like shape makes them extra wearable. With that, I’m calling it: underwire bikinis are the latest staple swimwear I think everyone needs in their collection.

To see my favorites of the moment and a few styling ideas along the way, just keep reading.

Solid & Striped has been about this style for years now, and they’ve perfected it.

Isa Boulder’s satin bikinis are truly otherworldly.

The cap sleeves give it an even more retro feel.

Give your classic halter tops a fresh upgrade.

Go off, Madewell.

That underwire shape, though.

Suddenly, I need a neon orange bikini.

It doesn’t get more timeless than this.

Just wait until you see it from the back.

Mermaid energy.

An Instagram favorite.

Basic, but far from boring.

These front ties are everything.

Faithfull the Brand has all the fun prints right now.

Extremely chic.

How fun is this print?

Supportive, trend-forward, and comfortable.

Everyone’s after a Mirror Palais bikini set this season.

Oooh.
