Two men charged with supplying the fentanyl-laced pills that led to rapper Mac Miller’s fatal overdose pleaded guilty to a federal drug distribution charge.
Stephen Walter and Ryan Reavis both entered their pleas in court on Tuesday according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.
Walter allegedly told Reavis supplied fake oxycodone pills to a third co-defendant, Cameron Pettit. Reavis confessed that he knew that the pills contained fentanyl or some other controlled substance. Walter’s plea agreement says that Miller “would not have died from an overdose but for the fentanyl contained in the pills.”
The men also gave the rapper cocaine and Xanax.
Pettit was allegedly the one who gave the pills to Mac Miller — two days before the died a fatal overdose in Studio City.
Fentanyl is a powerful synthetic opioid pain reliever that is up to 100 times more potent than morphine. There has been a large increase in fentanyl overdoses nationwide.
