Lil Nas X says he used psychedelic mushrooms to record his Montero album.
“I was able to open up a lot,” he told WSJ. “I was able to write actual stories about my life and put it into my music. I actually did that for the first time.” While reflecting on controversies over his sexuality, he believes that people need to address the root causes of their discomfort.
“You take certain things like kissing a guy onstage: I know that’s going to be something that’s talked about. But let’s get into the root cause of why it’s being talked about.”
BOOSIE RESPONDS TO LIL NAS X’S FATHER
The album’s videos were controversial, mostly due to rapper Boosie Badazz’s strong reactions to them and to his openly gay performances. Boosie even threatened to assault Lil Nas X and tweeted homophobic slurs, encouraging him to kill himself.
After Nas X posted a picture of himself pregant, Boosie tweeted:
“NAS X WTF U JUST DONT STOP,” he tweeted. “I THINK HES GOING TO TURN AROUND N SUCK ONE OF HIS BACK GROUND DANCERS DICK ON NATIONAL TV #protectyours #godturninoverinhisgrave.”
