Mr. Vegas hosted Cardi B’s dancehall themed birthday party and took shots at Nicki Minaj and Drake during on his Instagram.
“CARDI SINCERELY LOVES DANCEHALL. SHE DOES NOT SEE IT AS A LITTLE FLAVORING FOR ALBUMS OR REMIXES. THE QUEEN DEDICATED HER BIRTHDAY TO WI CULTURE (PASSA PASSA DANCEHALL). THIS IS HOW YOU KNOW SHE IS NOT A VULTURE,” he captioned a social media post.
Mr. Vegas has had issues with Drake for years. In 2016 he blasted Drake for not crediting dancehall artists correctly on his Views album.
“It’s not me taking shots at Drake. It’s like standing up for a culture that I’m a part of and I’ve been a part of,” he said.
Vegas complained that Drake “[turned] Beenie Man into an intro artist, like a hype man” and also said that “on the records that Jamaican artists are sampled, no one even sees their names.”
“If you were really into the culture and into the artists, at least you would have put some respect on [their] names on the album,” Vegas said.
