Days after announcing her engagement, Britney Spears deactivated her Instagram.
Fans of the pop singer became worried, thinking her father, Jamie Smith, could have been to blame. But sources say the decision was Britney’s.
“She’s happy and in a great place,” a source told Page Six, adding, “and silence can be a powerful thing and a powerful message.”
The insider insisted, “This was her decision.”
Britney then tweeted to let her fans know she was safe and well.
“Don’t worry folks … just taking a little break from social media to celebrate my engagement ? ?!!!! I’ll be back soon ??✨ .”
The news of Britney’s engagement was confirmed to The Times on Sunday by Brandon Cohen, a talent manager for Asghari.
“The couple made their longstanding relationship official today and are deeply touched by the support, dedication and love expressed to them,” Mr. Cohen said.
Three months ago, Britney testified in court that she was not allowed to get married or have a baby because of her conservatorship. She claimed she had been forced to have an IUD installed.
