As much as I love a good online shopping spree , the reality is that it’s impossible to know how something will look IRL. Will it fit the way I want it to? Is the color actually what’s shown on the model? What does the fabric feel like? These are just some of the concerns that start to swirl in my head when my finger is hovering over the order button. Since I know I’m not the only one who prefers to sift through reviews and customer photos before making a purchase, I gathered my fellow editors and WWW staffers for our own version of a try-on haul: Who What Wear Collection edition.
Since our namesake line was dreamed up by our editors and staffers, we thought it only fitting to try on the newest pieces from our latest drop ourselves and give you our first-person reviews. The latest drop features plenty of stunning knits, eye-catching dresses , and a few trendy basics that we figured you might be on the hunt for ahead of fall because we couldn’t wait to get our hands on them ourselves. A handful of editors and multiple racks of samples later, the results are in, and—spoiler—there were plenty of winners.
Ahead, see the evidence of our team’s collective try-on haul, including how we’re styling the new pieces, our notes on the fit and standout details, and, of course, how you can shop it all.
“I have a thing for dresses and this one is seriously so good. It’s lightweight enough that I can wear it in these hot in-between months with sandals and no jacket, but will be perfect with an oversized blazer and boots come cooler days. And can we give it up for this cool wood-grain pattern?” — Anneliese Dominguez, editor, branded content
“Try and find a cuter dress for fall. I’ll wait. Honestly, it just doesn’t get better than this. The deep green color is perfect. The cut is super flattering. And it feels especially on trend when styled with cowboy boots. But the best part is I know it’ll look equally as cool when paired with other shoes, too. Lug-sole loafers, anyone?” — Caitie Schlisserman, beauty director, branded content
There are cardigans that go well with an outfit and then there are cardigans that are the outfit. Our Charlotte cardi is definitely the latter. It falls at the perfect cropped hem that was made for wearing with high-waisted bottoms but the strongest element has got to be the way it creates an eye-catching cutout when married to the Natalie Tank.
While this knit tank looks exceptional with the above cardigan , our market editor Indya Brown has me thinking that the knit tank is a stunning staple all on its own. Not all tanks are made equal and I need to point your attention to the exaggerated racer neckline on this one which makes it feel more forward than the average. Style it with a slip skirt and sandals now and then layer it over an oxford shirt with leather trousers once the temperatures plummet.
My fall vibe? If Cher Horowitz time-traveled into 2021. My favorite way to wear this checkered skirt-and-shacket duo is wearing them together as a set for obvious reasons, but I already know that the jacket, in particular, will become one of my most-worn pieces this fall. It’s the perfect thing to throw on with jeans, leggings , skirts, or really anything.
“The ruched detailing on this dress is so flattering. I love the midi length because it’s easy to pair with tall boots or heels. I’m still such a huge fan of the chocolate brown color for fall so this dress is perfect.” — Aniyah Morinia, associate editor, branded content
“I don’t know about you, but every new season there’s always that special piece that becomes a regular fixture in my wardrobe. I end up wearing it multiple times a week because it basically works with everything I own. Skirts? Cute. Jeans? Absolutely. Trousers? Duh. The only difference this year is that it happens to be two pieces: this adorable little knit top and cardi set. I adore them together but they play well with others, too. Like, I’d for sure wear the knit top with a blazer and jeans and the cardi with a ribbed tank and a skirt. Honestly, it’s the color for me.” — Schlisserman
If your fall vibe is comfort first, let me introduce you to our ribbed family: the Perry Cardigan , Nico Tank, and Isla Pants.
“I basically live in slouchy trousers and this pair is just perfect. The fit is incredible with a high-waisted silhouette and slightly wide-leg cut that looks relaxed but still tailored and polished. Here, I’m wearing them with a ribbed bodysuit but you’ll also catch me wearing them with the matching vest and blazer very soon.” — Kristen Nichols, senior editor
“It’s finally sweater vest season and I couldn’t be more excited. This, along with the green knit set have to be my favorites of the collection. It’s hard finding vests that are equally as cute as they are non-itchy, and this one passes the test for sure.” — Yusra Siddiqui, assistant market editor
If there’s one thing you need to add to your closet right now, it’s this sweater vest. Yusra’s layering idea above is genius but I’d also like to point out how good it looks solo on our editorial director Lauren Eggersten. It’s a little boxy, a little cropped, and so easy to wear.
“I already know this set is going to be on repeat this season! I wore this with a pair of jeans and some booties, but I can’t wait to style it with a cute skirt and a pair of loafers. The thick ribbed material will keep me feeling chic and warm on chilly nights.” — Morinia
“I live in L.A. and rarely have a need to wear a chunky knit sweater. But damn, I’ll find a reason to bust this number out even if it means getting stares from fellow Angelenos on the street. From the cut to the ridiculously soft material, this is a sweater that’ll be relevant for years to come.” — Schlisserman
