Britney Spears’ dad has filed a petition to have her conservatorship ended after 13 years.
Britney has been fighting to be released from her conservatorship for years. After testifying in court weeks back that her father and others involved with the conservatorship were abusive and should be in jail… he announced her would be stepping away.
Now he wants it to end altogether.
In the new court filing, Jamie says that Britney’s “circumstances have changed to such an extent that grounds for establishment of a conservatorship may no longer exist.”
The filing continued, “Ms. Spears has told this court that she wants control of her life back without the safety rails of a conservatorship,” adding that she “wants to live her life as she chooses without the constraints of a conservator or court proceeding.”
In a statement to Page Six, Britney’s attorney, Mathew Rosengart, celebrated the petition.
“Having exposed his misconduct and improper plan to hold his daughter hostage by trying to extract a multimillion-dollar settlement, Mr. Spears has now effectively surrendered. There is no settlement,” Rosengart said Tuesday, referencing an alleged $2 million payout that Jamie had previously requested to step down as conservator.”
The attorney says they will continue to investigate Jamie’s management of Britney’s money.
