I’m Starting to Wear Heels Again—These Fall Shoe Trends Have My Attention

I’m a true sneaker girl at heart, but there’s just something about these fall heel trends that is making me want to experiment this season. After so many months of not having any reason to change out of my trusted pair of white Air Force 1s, these five trends make me want to actually get dressed up again.

Maybe it’s because they run the sartorial gamut, from kitten-heel options to chunky platforms and clog-style sandals. The heeled loafers that I used to love as a high schooler are also back in style for fall 2021, and they’re making me wish I still had my pleated uniform skirt to style them with. And because I simply have enough black heels in my closet, I’m happy to announce that white styles are the official neutral shoes of the fall 2021 season.

Of course, I rounded up a ton of options for you to shop. Below, check out 30 different options—plus a few tips on how to style your favorite pairs courtesy of the fashion set’s favorite content creators.

If you’re just getting back into wearing heels after some time off, I suggest opting for a pair that comes with a kitten heel. Think of this style as the happy medium between your flats and your sky-high stilettos. Style them with a miniskirt or dress for an outfit that will work in the weirdest weather.

You can totally go back-to-school shopping as an adult, and these heeled loafers are proof. After one pair from Jeffrey Campbell went viral on TikTok recently, the style has cropped up just about everywhere IRL.

Wearing white after Labor Day is okay in my book as long as you’re wearing a pair of white heels. The shape and size don’t matter, but these options all have a very ’80s-inspired feel, especially when they’re styled over black tights

For a French girl–approved look, find a pair of heeled Mary Janes. While a red pair is the most French-feeling item on this list, feel free to choose an option that comes in a more neutral color palette instead.

If you loved wearing flatforms over the summer, you’re going to become obsessed with fall 2021’s chunky-sandal trend. Thanks to a thick heel and a high platform, these picks are hardly heels at all. Choose a pair that comes in a fall-ready color or texture to make these sandals feel a little less summery.
