Welcome to Weekday Wardrobe, a series in which one Who What Wear editor or staffer will snap a pic of the outfits they wear from Monday to Friday. We’ll break down where you can shop it all to inspire your own everyday style, no matter what’s on your weekly agenda.
Fall is a confusing time in Los Angeles. As much as I desperately want chilly breezes, orange leaves, and pumpkin-scented candles burning in every room (I am that girl), fall around here has more of a try-not-to-sweat-through-your-shirt vibe. When I first moved here from Northern California, the L.A. fall weather was a shock. But after seven years of living here, I’ve learned to embrace it.
So when putting together fall looks, I have to take into account that it may be 90° outside. But as a fashion editor, I always want to wear what’s in, so quite honestly, sometimes I’ll just suffer the heat. Curious to see my typical weekly outfit rotation? Keep scrolling for five looks complete with sweater vests, knit dresses, matching sets, going-out tops, and more.
I have to start off strong on the first day of the week, or it’s all downhill from there. We have a large marketing meeting every Monday, so even though no one really sees me (we still work from home), I might as well look nice. The sweater-vest trend has really stolen my heart this fall. It feels a little more dressed up than a regular T-shirt, but it’s still comfortable. Once it gets a little cooler out, I’ll layer it over a long-sleeve, but for now, this gives me fall vibes without causing me to overheat.
I would say that I’m dressed up here, but let’s be honest: dresses are basically elevated pajamas. I’m digging anything with a ribbed or knit material, which just gives an extra oomph that’s perfect for fall. I took this photo right before heading out to the post office on my lunch break and added a simple, black shoulder bag to tie the look together.
By Wednesday, I’m ready to take a little wardrobe break, so I always turn to old faithful: a comfy matching set. Like I mentioned, it’s still so hot out, so this light and airy linen set is *chef’s kiss* when I want to keep the air conditioning bill down.
When stay-at-home orders started, my former roommate and I decided to dedicate Thursdays to making cocktails and watching reality TV. Even though I’ve since moved in with my fiancé, my old roommate and I still keep our tradition alive. Now that we can go out, our Thursdays are filled with new restaurants and local cocktail lounges, so going-out tops are back in my rotation. Pairing them with an excessive amount of gold jewelry makes me feel complete.
Fridays are date nights (my favorite). My fiancé and I are big advocates for sunset drinks (hence the sunnies!) and a fun dinner. I’ll usually throw on a dress—sometimes it’s on the more casual side, and other times it’s a bit more elevated. It really depends on the type of day I’ve had and what type of restaurant we’ve decided to hit. But wearing a dress always makes me feel even more excited for the night.
