Yep, I’m Already All Over Fall’s Coolest Outfits—These Are the 6 I’m Wearing RN

It’s been an unconventional year for the industry: Not only has the fashion week calendar been turned on its head, but more and more designers are deviating from the typical seasonal cycle. While a lot of things are changing in the fashion scene, my excitement for checking out what’s next on the runways has not. After a year of wearing and talking about practical, cozy things, my eyes are more than ready to feast on anything that doesn’t involve a pair of sweats

With the fall collections still trickling in, my mind has already shifted to thinking about the trends and outfits that will be big come months ahead. One of my favorite things to do as a fashion editor is to bookmark looks from the shows and recreate them with pieces already in my closet or on the market. Call it early, but it feels like getting a leg up before they officially explode.

Today, I’m presenting 6 fall looks that I’ve been constantly referencing as of late. It may seem a little hasty to be thinking about fall so soon, but trust me it’s only a matter of time before these trends make their way all over your feed. Keep scrolling to see them all and to shop each outfit.

This summer is all about the corset, but if the fall runways are any indication, we’ll be wearing them solidly into the fall too. Designer interpretations of the style err on the side of delicate colors with bold structural details. Although you may have to until this romantic corset from Marques’ Almeida hits stores, you can borrow from the label’s runway styling and pair one with tonally coordinating pants for a similar take.

Acne’s latest ready-to-wear show is a sea of soothing neutrals and ditsy floral prints, so it really felt like a statement when this electrifying red, green, and orange outfit appeared on the runway seemingly out of nowhere. The unexpected mix of colors is immediately eye-catching, and while color-blocking has long been a thing, the coordination of these particular colors feels fresh. It’s like a palette of shades fit for a traffic light, thus I’ve already informally dubbed this ‘redlight, greenlight’ color blocking.

Presented in December 2020, Demna Gvasalia’s Fall-Winter Balenciaga show predicted two trends we’ve been seeing a lot of lately—the oversized button-down and baggy jeans. Of the collection’s 50 looks, this one immediately jumped out to me because of its wearability and ease. Of course, there are a few elements that feel uniquely Balenciaga—like the exposed camo print distressing and fluffy cat-eye sunglasses—but the rest is surprisingly easy to recreate with a few staple pieces you probably alrr.

French fashion brand Coperni does the 90s minimalism look better than most, so it didn’t surprise me when this crisp all-white suit popped up during its show this March. Each season, there’s typically a suiting moment that really shines, becoming the it-style of its times, and for me this one is IT. It’s not dramatic by any means, but the palette of refreshing whites and simplistic design is part of the appeal. Coperni’s protruded shoulder blazer is quite unique, so while I wait for its release, I’m settling for white suiting in loose silhouettes.

Who What Wear readers will be very familiar with this tailored separates combo. Although relatively simple, this shirt-button-down-and-trousers outfit has been blowing up among the fashion set (as we’ve documented here). Well, meet the autumn interpretation as shown in The Row’s F/W 2021 collection. Instead of a white shirt and blouse, this look borrows the same styling with black separates. It’s a subtle twist, but equally as chic nonetheless.

Per usual, everything from Dion Lee’s latest collection has already made its way to my fall wishlist. I’m a sucker for neutral monochromatic outfits and the brand featured it a ton with shades of sea moss green and muted periwinkle. While those certainly grabbed my attention, it was this layered bodysuit with color-blocked jeans look that I immediately felt the need to recreate for myself. Layered detail tops have been a micro-trend on the rise, so if this outfit is any indication it’s in for a big boom come fall.
