I Asked Editors for Their Back-to-Office Outfits When That’s a Thing Again

After over a year of working from home and inching closer to normalcy once again, our team at Who What Wear has been thinking about our back-to-office outfits when dressing on a daily basis is a thing again. What can we say? We miss our clothes. We may not know the exact date that’ll mark our NYC and L.A. returns, but there’s no harm in a little optimism in dressing. After all, this story idea started when I bought an on-sale Nanushka skirt simply because I considered it a necessity for my back-to-work dream outfit.

It’s safe to say the outfits my fellow editors put together got me excited because after months of seeing each other on Zoom in mostly loungewear, I’m living for their elevated fashion game. From heeled boots to platform sandals, the outfits below combine the comfortable elements we’ve grown attached to with refined pieces we’ve been itching to wear. Keep scrolling for some outfit inspiration from my team below, and start planning your dream office outfit.

“While I’ve tried to get dressed every day despite the pandemic, I’ve been really missing being able to wear heels. For me, my back-to-work style will be all about getting my footing back—quite literally. I’ve been stocking up on fun statement boots, heels, and even bags that can be styled with my staple work pieces. It’s less about changing my full style and more about giving it a fun reboot for when the world (and the office) reopens again.”

“While working from home, my outfits have mostly involved some kind of cozy loungewear, but I can’t wait to get back to more polished looks. To ease my way in, I’m planning to wear some tailored leggings with a sculptural blazer.”

“I added this angelic Staud dress to my closet last year, and since I didn’t have many occasions to wear it then, I’m bringing it back to give it the attention that it definitely deserves. From the voluminous sleeves to the square neckline and the corset-inspired seaming, it definitely lets people know that I’m a fashion girl. I styled it with lace-up boots and a sculptural bag for a look that’s very modern-day Bridgerton.”

“I cannot wait to put on a chic blazer again! It feels like forever. I’ll be putting the rib-knit dresses that I’ve bought this past year to good use and styling them under a blazer. Most likely, I’ll ease my way back into the office with some cool flatform sandals rather than heels (at least for the first few weeks until my feet get used to them again!).”

“I actually worked remotely before we all started to. When I start going to coffee shops and co-working spaces again, I’m looking forward to ditching my sweats and opting for relaxed basics that are still polished. I’m talking about loose trousers, modern outerwear, and comfy shoes.”
