Hubert Davis left many confused when he was asked how if felt to be the first Black head coach at North Carolina.
In a press conference on Tuesday, Davis talked about his plans for the program before randomly explaining how proud he is to have a white wife.
Here’s his White wife:
“I’m very proud to be African American. But I’m also very proud that my wife is white. And I’m very proud that my three beautiful, unbelievable kids are a combination of both of us.”
People were shocked and confused as he answered a question that nobody asked.
He later released a better statement:
“I love this university,” Davis said in a statement. “I played here, I earned my degree here, I fell in love with my wife here, I got married here, I moved here after I retired from the NBA and I have raised my family here. I am proud to lead this team, and I can’t wait for all that comes next.”
