R. Kelly’s upcoming April trial has now been pushed back to August because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
“We are scheduled for an April trial date but I suspect it’s not going to come as a surprise that that is not a date that is going to work given the current conditions,” Brooklyn federal Judge Ann Donnelly said per Page Six.
He has remained in custody at the Metropolitan Correctional Center in Chicago since his arrest in July 2019.

The new date is now August 9.
Kelly faces various federal and state charges ranging from sexual abuse to racketeering. He also is charged with having sexual activity with three girls under the age of 18 and making child pornography. Charges against him have been filed in New York, Illinois, and Minnesota.
He has pleaded not guilty to the charges against him. He has denied all allegations of abuse.
Kelly has been denied bond several times, as the judge deems him to be a flight risk and prosecutors are afraid he will attempt to tamper with witnesses.
