Trust Me—Buy These 20 Jackets and Coats

Trust Me—Buy This is a monthly series where our market editor Nicole Eshaghpour makes her favorite fashion finds shoppable for Who What Wear readers.

Hello and welcome to another Trust Me—Buy This story! In case you’re new here, today I’ll be sharing my favorite items of the moment with more of a personal spin than your usual roundup. With a little help from my shopping-focused Instagram account, @trustmebuythis, where I post my own (mediocre) snaps of items I’m into at the moment, I get to both show and tell you about some of my most-loved fashion items in a range of categories.

On today’s agenda is none other than fall and winter-ready outerwear. From blazers to leather layers to classic wool pieces, these are the jackets and coats I can’t help but recommend to everyone for the months ahead. Mixed in with brands I personally own and can vouch for are some newer items and labels I can only hope will eventually make it from my wish list to my closet, including a range of both trends and classics. To get started reading about all my picks and, of course, shopping, just keep scrolling.

Yes, blazers are so important they deserve their own category. My tip? If you want to wear them well into winter, opt for an oversize fit (even if it’s slight) so that you can layer sweaters underneath as the temperatures continue to drop.

An hourglass silhouette is both eye-catching and flattering.

When one of the coolest brands and influencers collab, you know the outcome will be good.

This Tibi version is obviously far from basic, but it still feels oddly wearable and versatile. Consider it at the top of my wish list.

Cropped blazers and skirt suits were all over the F/W 20 runways, so this outfit feels like a no-brainer.

Whether you opt for a shacket, trench, blazer, or anything else, you’ll want to prioritize leather (or, of course, faux leather) pieces this season.

A classic you’ll keep and use for years to come.

Nanushka’s vegan leather is unparalleled.

This color is as versatile as black but a lot more interesting.

Tackle two must-haves at once with a leather blazer.

Classic, wool and wool-blend coats and jackets are always in style and perfect for both layering and wearing alone.

I’m highly considering adding this rust-colored wrap coat to my ever-growing shopping cart.

Now we know the perfect black coat does exist.

Fringe is trending for fall, and that’s just one reason to add this pretty coat to your cart.

Both capes and equestrian style are trending for F/W 20, which makes this piece doubly cool.

While puffers are still a trendy choice among the fashion set, in some cities (such as NYC) they’re also a necessity. Luckily, the many cool options out there make finding one you love easy.

This is a slightly different version of the puffer I’m wearing above. The belt is such a game-changer for me, I ended up wearing it more than I ever would have imagined last winter.

Topshop always kills it in this category.

Aritzia’s range of Super Puffs’ gets better every year. This time around, I’m eyeing a slightly cropped version.

I love the fit and retro vibes of this trusty style by The North Face.

Below you’ll find the coats and jackets that may not fit into one of the classic categories above but felt too good not to share.

A plaid blazer can only be made better via of-the-moment fringe.

Everyone should own a timeless trench.

The faux shearling trim on this is such a game-changer.

I guess I’m adding a second two-tone jacket to my wish list. After all, how could I not after seeing this?
