The 4 Best Boot Trends, Per the Designer Who’s Sold 100 Million+ Pairs of Shoes

For me, considering what to buy is a juggling act where I try to balance quality, style, and price. Sometimes my impulsivity wins and I splurge, but usually, I land on brands like Schutz, which is adept at translating the biggest trends into more affordable, wearable versions. Win-win.

Having been in the shoe business for over two decades, I thought Schutz founder Alexandre Birman (who also runs his eponymous brand) would be the perfect person to tap for insights on the biggest fall boot trends of 2020. “Knee-high boots are always popular with the Schutz customer,” Birman pointed out. “I love the Maryana Boot because of its versatility. You can wear it with anything from jeans to dresses.”

In addition to talking trends, Birman also revealed that Schutz has shifted to an even lower price point model while still maintaining the same quality—music to my ears. Plus, “moving forward the collections will include more leisure and casual styles to support the changing lifestyles of our customers,” the press release explained. Makes sense to me. Scroll down to shop the four fall boot trends Birman thinks will make it big.

“I believe we will see a lot of combat boots this season, as we have noticed a shift in our customer’s interest to flat and lower-heeled footwear since the beginning of quarantine. We reacted by shifting our focus to leisure and casual, and in September launched our low pricing initiative to make collections more accessible and support the changing lifestyles of the Schutz customer. We lowered our price point yet maintained Schutz’s level of craftsmanship and quality. Two of my favorite styles from our new fall collection are the Moly and Zayane boots.”

“Every woman needs a classic pair of white boots in their closet. The Bette Booties are chic and can be worn all year long, season to season.”

“Knee-high boots are always popular with the Schutz customer. I love the Maryana Boot because of its versatility—you can wear them with anything from jeans to dresses. Whether you’re having a socially distanced date night or at home with friends, these are the perfect boots!”

In place of the style of sock boots that surged circa 2018, this new version has a knit sock detail at the top of the boot, while the rest of the shoe is leather. “Now more than ever, women are prioritizing comfort when shopping for footwear. We made comfort a priority when designing the Cheryl Booties. The knit ankle and chunky heel allow the Schutz customer to be comfortable while also showcasing their personal style.”
