21 TV Storylines That Deserve To Burn In The Dumpster Fire That Was 2018

Recently we asked the BuzzFeed Community to rant about the absolute worst TV storylines they had watched this year. Here are the best answers.

🚨 WARNING: POSSIBLE SPOILERS AHEAD! 🚨

1.

The resurrection of Tommy Kinkle on Chilling Adventures of Sabrina.

2.

The lack of development with Eden’s character on The Handmaid’s Tale.

Hulu

Eden’s death was clearly just a plot device to get Serena to realise the dangers of Gilead for a young girl. But her character was barely developed and the affair between her and Isaac kinda came out of nowhere. Her entire storyline deserved more nuance and depth.

3.

And June deciding to stay in Gilead instead of escaping with her baby.

Hulu

This was infuriating. Like WTF June?! Get back in the damn van. Your baby is about to go hungry and you can’t do anything for the other one from the inside anyway.

4.

Everything about Season 5 of The 100.

The CW

It should’ve ended long ago and this is coming from someone who adored it.

Thepastrypuff

5.

Martin and Lena attempting to rekindle their relationship on Splitting Up Together.

ABC

They were doing so well apart and Martin wanted Lena to be someone who she wasn’t. It just caused more conflict and now they can’t even be civil.

6.

The confusing mess that was the gargoyle king storyline on Riverdale.

The CW

Okay but seriously, WTF is happening on Riverdale? I feel like the writers are scraping the bottom of the barrel with this whole gargoyle king thing. It’s all really unfortunate.

7.

Not to mention Archie landing himself in juvie.

The CW

All this storyline does is separate Archie from everyone else, allow him to behave even stupider than normal and attempt to show how much of a cartoonish super villain Hiram is.

8.

And the “Jailhouse Rock” sequence performed by The Vixens.

The CW

Riverdale was already pushing my limits but then they came up with this whole “Jailhouse Rock” scene. As if women don’t have a hard enough time being taken seriously, now here’s this scene that literally only exists to watch women in skirts dance around. I had to stop watching Riverdale after that.

9.

The inability of Fiona to grasp how terrible Ford really is on Shameless.

Channel 4

Even before Fiona caught Ford living with his wife, he was a terrible boyfriend and a piece of shit. And she doesn’t even realise it! Ford disagrees with Fiona on just about everything, and always guilt trips her. Plus when Fiona makes an independent choice about her property business, he shuts it down by masking it as advice.

10.

Jackson’s sudden religious crisis on this season of Grey’s Anatomy.

ABC

I hated Jackson’s storyline on Grey’s this season. For him to just suddenly have a crisis of faith after almost being hit by a car, ESPECIALLY after all the crap he went through with April really upset me. All of it was super out of character for him and I’m so over it.

11.

And his turbulent relationship with Maggie.

ABC

Firstly, Jackson and Maggie start liking each other out of nowhere. And then April’s accident suddenly raises religious beliefs in Jackson when him not having the same faith as April was the reason they broke up?! Then he goes on a spiritual vacation, which leads to Maggie finding out he is still taking to April. WTF is happening with that man and his relationship with Maggie?

12.

The disappointing second season of Dynasty.

The CW/Netflix

Season 2 has been a hot, disappointing mess and things haven’t made sense. Like Blake being so devastated over Cristal’s death when they so obviously hated each other, or Fallon wanting to sell CA out from under her dad after fighting so hard for control.

13.

The possibility of Haley getting back together with Dylan on Modern Family.

ABC

If she was gonna get back with an ex, it should’ve been Andy! Andy, dammit!

14.

The confusing timelines on Season 2 of Westworld.

HBO

I consider myself a smart TV viewer most of the time but the whole season made me feel dumb because I couldn’t keep track of all the timelines.

15.

Randall’s bizarre political campaign on This Is Us.

NBC

I’m having a really hard time with Randall’s campaign on This is Us. It’s weird and I feel like it doesn’t fit into the show.

lindseyk10

16.

The sheer craziness that was Insatiable.

Netflix

Insatiable is literally the worst and stupidest show to ever exist. It was supposed to be about a girl who was plus size and then became skinny after having her jaw wired shut. But then she does some batshit crazy stuff, like killing two people. The rest of the characters are also insane.

rishibhak

17.

The complete lack of direction in Season 14 of Supernatural.

The CQ

First of all, why do we have a Season 14? Don’t ask why I’m still watching, I don’t know either. But my biggest complaint this season, despite the horrible writing, is the complete utter lack of a plot. The first hint of a plot I’ve seen all season is Jack’s stalker. And they’ve already dropped it, I’m sure.

18.

Claire’s surprise pregnancy on House of Cards.

Netflix

Several times throughout the series, Claire said she didn’t want a baby. She even got an abortion with her and Frank’s child back in the day when she considered having kids. And even if it was a “power” move, Claire has already proved she is a badass and could have grabbed onto power in a number of different ways. Ugh, it was just super frustrating.

19.

Everything about the second season of 13 Reasons Why.

Netflix

The second season of 13 Reasons Why was a train wreck. Most of the episodes completely took away from the original storyline. Like Clay and Hannah getting high together? Zach and Hannah having a relationship? Hannah and Bryce hanging out? Sorry, there’s no way those things happened and Season 1 still plays out the way it does.

—Kimmie Rodriguez, Facebook

20.

The flash forward scenes on Arrow and how they will most likely prevent a happy ending.

The CW

I’m hating the flash forward scenes on Arrow this season. Like is this a possible future we have a chance of “fixing”? Because if not, that means all the years of watching this show, hoping that one day when it ends Oliver and Felicity will get a satisfying ending after all they’ve been through, is never going to happen. And if that’s the case, why the hell are we still watching?

—Kathy Wall, Facebook

21.

And the disappointing end to American Horror Story: Apocalypse.

FX

I hated the ending of AHS this season and the more I think about it the less it makes sense. The time travel, the extra random characters and the fact that the entire season meant nothing because it was undone in the last episode. Everything just felt super rushed, sloppy and underwhelming coming from such a dramatic buildup all season.
