7 Colors I’m Wearing to Look On Trend This Fall

With the fall season upon us, I’m officially ready to make some welcome wardrobe updates (ciao for now white linen dresses, and hello again, cozy cardigans). One of the easiest (and my personal favorite) way to reinvigorate my wardrobe for a new season is by adding a fresh touch of color to my ensembles. Since this is my favorite subject (I am a bonafide nerd when it comes to color theory), I’m always excitedly looking out for what hues dominate the runway shows and keep a close eye on Pantone’s trend forecasts.

Luckily, this fall/winter’s color trends do not disappoint. While, I’ll certainly still be wearing plenty of reliable black and autumnal neutrals, fall 2022 has a number of unexpected and head-turning hues that are getting me sartorially excited for the season ahead.

From bright blue to delicate pastels, whether you add a touch of color with an accessory or go for a full-head to toe look, these six colors below will have you looking altogether on trend this fall.

Rich and luxe-looking, cobalt blue is one of the most eye-catching hues to emerge from the F/W 22 runways. The best part is that it pairs beautifully with neutral beige and black colors, making it easy to style with pretty much anything in your wardrobe.

Pink—in every shade—is trending hard this fall (the Barbiecore trend is well and truly thriving) but it’s the deep and saturated hot pink hues that really caught my eye on the runways. Go for a statement dress, or simply pair a hot pink knit top with your jeans, either way you’ll look altogether on trend.

Think pastels are reserved for spring? Think again. Designers embraced the soft and pretty hues in full head-to-toe looks for fall, adding an unexpected freshness to autumnal looks. From baby pink to the lightest shades of yellow and green—the subtle hues were seen on everything from winter coats to sheer dresses.

A beautifully rich and bright color for fall, the exotic yellow-orange-gold hue was pervasive on the ruwways and will look gorgeous paired with your autumnal browns.

While shimmer isn’t exactly one color, it bares a mention on the color trend list because it was seen in such abundance in the fall collections. From sheer sequins to crystal netting the iridescent and metallic hues are sure to crop up all over our Insta feeds in the months to come. For a casual take on the trend try pairing a shimmery top or dress with a casual knit sweater and sneakers.

Kelly green hues have been trending for some time and this fall we see her sister hue—abundant green—continue its popularity. Vibrant, lush, and rejuvenating it’s the perfect luxe-looking hue to add to your wardrobe this season.

Fall is the perfect time to reach for those deep, rich coffee hues and this shade of aromatic brown was a favorite among designers on the fall runways. Whether worn as a stand alone color or paired with white, pink, blue, or green it’s a shade we’ll no doubt be reaching for on-repeat once the leaves turn brown.
